Moving around the website
The convention used for navigating around this website is that
underlined words indicate a link to another page or to an
outside website. Buttons have not been used but sponsors
icons are active links. Click
on an underlined word to follow the link. If the link is
to an outside website or to a page on this site that has a non
standard layout (e.g. newsletter), a new window will be opened to contain
the linked page. When more than one window is open you
can switch between the sessions. When you have finished with
the extra windows, closing them will return you to the VHRR site.
The
main sections of each page
Most pages on this website are
divided into 4 parts:
The
heading and main information section appear on all standard
layout pages other than the photo galleries. On some pages, due
to space constraints the left and/or right side bars have been
deleted.
The
Heading
The navigation links to the main sections of the site are
at the bottom of the heading. The name of the page you
are currently on is displayed in yellow on the black banner
just below the main section navigation links. If you are
in a subsection, the main section that you are in appears in
smaller white characters in front of the current page
name. If you are two levels below a main section, both
higher levels will appear before the current page name.
(for example, this is the Site Help page, and it is a
subsection of the Other section)
Where
applicable, links to other subsections of the
"parent" of the current page, and links to
subsections of the current page are displayed immediately
below the black banner.
At
the right side of the heading are links that enable you to
print the current page, add the current page to your browser
Favorites folder, to get information on questions or provide
feedback, and to access this help screen.
The
Left Sidebar
The items in the Hotlinks section are identical on each
screen, but will be changed periodically. They are
direct links to the most commonly accessed pages and to pages
of topical interest
The
Right Sidebar
The items in this sidebar vary from page to page and are
small points of interest relevant to the currently displayed
page.
