Ferrari was the featured make as it was 50 years since a North American Distributor was appointed.
Monterey is located on the Calif Pacific Coast 2 1/2 hrs south of San Francisco, and the Laguna Seca track is 12 miles inland, just beyond the outskirts of Monterey. The climate, however changes rapidly from coastal, foggy, temperate with seal colonies and seabird nesting............to hot, arid, dusty desert at the track.

Originally, Monterey Historics was invite-only and limited to 3-400 entries, but demand was so great that a PreHistorics event was organised for the weekend before, and has become a tradition. With so many like-branded cars attending, the Owners' Club of (generally) the featured make has the following week booked for them to run less competitive events.

Pebble Beach Concours (us$100 per ticket pre-booked, no tickets sold at gate) is run on the same weekend as Historics Main Raceday....which do you choose? I had the luxury of attending 10 days at Laguna, so went to Pebble on Sunday.

This whole combination of events, along with car auctions, selling original Shelbys and the like, is a whole story of it's own. I have 150 photos at least and you are only seeing 5%. This is a must-do trip for any club member.
