Default 2010 Peking to Paris Car Rally

Dear President, Secretary, Webmaster of related car clubs

I would like to invite you and your members to a very unique charity night celebrating the Australian effort in the 2010 Peking to Paris Car Rally - that we are holding on Friday 29 July 2011 in Melbourne. The night is supporting the Cerebral Palsy Education Centre, and is a night of ripping yarns as told by 8 crews who completed in the last rally (Sept/Oct 2010). 7 of the crews are from Australia, and 1 from overseas. Of the rally crews, they are represented by:

1. "FX" 48-215 Holden - Winner of Class
2. EH Holden - Overall Winner, Class, Rally & Line Honours
3. Vauxhaull OD23/60 - 2nd in class
4. Dodge Tourer 1929
5. MG SA "Keller" 1938
6. MG SA Saloon 1936
7. Renalt 4 CV
8. Alvis SA 1937

It is likely the Bentley crew of the 4.5 park Ward and also the 1939 Packard 6 will also attend the evening. Not a bad turnup of the 12 Australian Crews entered. The stories that we have are fantastic, and as we have had such an excellent response to crews attending the night - we will be limiting the crews to telling on their best ripping yarns. We are calling the night "Yakety Yak: Yarns from the Peking to Paris track". We have received product sponsorship from FAT YAK beer, so there will be a complementary drink on arrival to get everyone in the mood for a fun night.

The theatre is the historic Capitol Theatre, and the format of the evening is completely novel, and untried. However given we have so much rich material and so little time, we expect that our MC, Don Kinsey - expert at keeping the event on track, will moderate the evening appropriately.

I can't tell you how much fun we had on the rally last year, and really to get the amount of crews in the one theatre for the one night is incredible (most crews are flying to Melbourne for the weekend).

However, I can alert you to the youtube videos that I have posted as teasers for the event (yes they are light hearted and a little silly, but this is what we hope the evening will be).

Video Part I - Teaser: A Few Good Yak (Can you handle the Truth ?)

Video Part II - Footage: A hard earned thirst

If you or your members are interested in attending the evening, the box office website: www.trybooking.com/QJV has all the details of the night as well as the details of how to book. You must book online using this site, and it is first come first serve, as you choose your seats in the theatre at the time of booking. Whilst it is a fundraiser, we are raising funds through the ticket price, so we do not want to interrupt the valuable yarn time but raising money during the time devoted to the most incredible tales of adventure, hence there will be no interruption on the night.

I hope you enjoy the videos, we hope to add a few more teasers before the night to rev up the audience !

Regards

Rhys Timms

ps I have emailed this to you as a bcc: (blind carbon copy) and as such you won't know the invitation list, however I have tried to email the appropriate rally clubs and also car clubs related to the vehicle crews that will be attending the night. I have obtained your email address by visiting your club website, however, I have not emailed this to every committee member or every email address I could find. I would appreciate that if you could forward this email invitation on within your club or mention at your next club meeting or magazine, and also to anyone that you think will find this night interesting. The email addresses I have looked up will not be used for any other purpose than this email, and our privacy policy of the event can be found on the booking website.

pps Should you have any enquires regarding Cerebral Palsy or the conduct of the event, please do not hesitate to contact Robyne Somerville (email attached above) from CPEC, and phone details on the box office website.
