Default Replicas in Historic racing

Im new to historics...so dont wish to ruffle feathers....

But why can we not allow replicas to race? In sportscars for example....917 replicas, GT40s, Cobras etc.... could this be something down the line to consider.... i personally think a grid of sportscars both historic and replica would be great. Imagine being able to build say a CanAm car or a older Lemans car and run in historics.... Sure keep them looking as period as possable, but allow them to run parts available today..... maybe paint has to be period, not redbull sponsored etc..... maybe it wouldnt work in all classes...... do you think this could ever happen???

Welcome aboard. You have bought yourself in to a whole bucket of worms. Suggest you have a look at the Philosophy of Historic Racing statement - should be available via CAMS site. Also have a look at the story of Group N/Historic Touring Cars and the cars that run at V8 and similar rounds and need to be log booked under Sports Sedan regulations.
You will quickly find out that Historic views range from the ultra conservative to the ultra radical, but always with the same passion for Historic racing.

It all can get very messy. There is a famous story of an English event where 3 of the same car appeared in the first few grid positions, and not one of them was the original and still existing car. Hope you enjoy the racing though.
