Hi there,
can anyone provide information as to the whereabouts of the MYF (Mountain York Ford) 1950's race car owned and driven by Don Scarlet during the late 1950's and early 1960's. It was built in Queensland using an early Ford side valve V8 engine and running gear while being painted yellow. It purchased and bought to Melbourne in 1958 and was later painted red by Don It completed at the 1958-59 Barjarg races and finished on the podium many times. Mr Don Scarlet would like to know if it still exists and is interested in seeing the car again if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, 'Big Rev Nev' Butler |

Hi 'Big Nev',
I remember the MYF competing at an 'outlaw' meeting near Corowa, next to the N.E. Vic border. I only remember seeing it that once, but was told that it was a CAMS car on a 'visit'. It was a handsome mono with a "pear-shaped" grille. I was led to believe at the time, that it came from a little town called Lurg, which is not all that far from Benalla and Barjarg. I also was led to believe (Incorrectly it seems) that the initials stood for 'Mountain Young Ford' |
