ATTENTION ALL REGULARITY COMPETITORS

The Phillip Island Classic Festival of Motor Sport March 18-20 March 2011 is again feeling the pinch from too many categories in Historic Motor Sport.

In events from the previous two years a category has been dropped from this event.

Regularity will be the category to feel the reduction in categories for 2011.

Regularity Division 2 will have be dropped from the event for 2011 with the proviso that it will not suffer the same fate again in the next several Phillip Island events to come.

Regularity Group 1 will consist of a field of 65 vehicles to which invitations to compete will be issued by the Committee of the Event.

The invitations will take the form of a letter of invitation to individual Regularity competitors which will be posted at the same time as the Supp Regs.

This decision will no doubt dissapoint a number of participants but is unfortunately a necessary action that had to be taken to successfully run the event in the time allocated.

Sorry to hear that Paul, but we understand the pressures being faced. I might take this opportunity to invite Regularity competitors to Mallala and Collingrove at the end of April for an alternate opportunity to take the cars out for a run.

Hi Paul

That is very dissapointing for many people who wanted to do this event. How do you propose to make a selection of the cars for the 65 field.
Is this done on VHRR membership? the type of car entered? if you have done this event before? The speed of cars? Lottery?
I am keen to know how the selection is done, in my case i have already booked accomodation etc in advance thinking i was no issue to enter in Regularity. How long do we have to wait to know if we are invited??

Rowan

Hi Rowan,

The invitations to compete were posted out this morning and you should receive a copy in the very near future.

The selection critea was very difficult to arirve at, and had to be fair to competitors both club members and non members and is based on a spread of both Divisions considering -

Previous regularity participation at VHRR events.
Age and style of vehicle.
Speed difference between vehicles eg. the 130 % consideration.
Club members and non club members.

We will be allocating positions to the first 65 entries received.

I hope that this is of some help to you..

Hi Annie,

I am sure that your invitation would be welcomed by most active club members especially those Regularity competitors will miss out on the Phillip Island event..

Hi Paul,

can you confirm entries for the Regularity?

My father will be interstate and wants to know if he is in so that we can arrange to come back in time!

Thanks so much.
