1953 Holden 48-215-257 (Business sedan)

History:

This car #633 is one of only two known rare business sedans (650 made using last of FX bodys and newer FJ mechancials for the Taxi market)

The car was built (restored) starting 1983. Competed at various Victorian locations up until 1993.

Some 13 years later, following the death of Peter Brock, we offered the car to Phil Munday to act as stand in for the Goodwood car for the 2006 Sandown Tribute day.

We have decided to 'air the car again' at selected Sprints, Regularity and Hill Climbs.

Major suspension development has taken place in 2007.
The car has become the 2007 Victorian Hill Climb class winner for Historic Gp N.

There are only a small (12 or so) number of early Holdens still with Cams Log Books Australia wide.

hi Gary,I have a 1950 FX log booked appendix J car,was originally a Melbourne Taxi then raced by, i think,Don Or John Green. It's next owner brought the car to Western australia with him,but by then it was uncompetitive. I have had it for about 4 years now.It has some beaut period racing mods, with the twin Webers(one venturi blocked off),string bound steering wheel, and shortened, quickshift three on the tree gearshift. It even has the old brass fire extinguisher! I guess i should get a new historic log book and get it out and about.

Hi lethalone,

Do you have any further details on the cars history.?
After all, as i mentioned to Bob Jane recentlly, it is the 60 birthday of the 48 series this year.

Hope to get ours out a few times this year., at least Vic Hill climb Rnd 2, VHHR twilight and Myirrinong sprint

That is the game plan for the start of the year,

Kind regards

;)Recent 2008 Winton Historic see three generations of Humpy Holden race car.
Help celebrate 60th of 48-215 series.Rob Jamieson kitted up in the original 1960's trim in his same white car he ran back then.
Gary Poole in his 1980's Red car.Phil Munday in his 2006 ex Peter Brock 'Goodwood' car.All three performed some display quick laps and the cars were a major attraction in the pits. Many stories relived of those days when 48-215 and FJ were the premier touring car class.

Thanks to N Hammond for some pic

:)Here is the copy of the banner produced for the 'Holden Legends Lunch'.
What a huge sucess. Many of the drivers and crew were re-united after 40+ years. The stories, the 'cheating' and mateship all came back.
;)Well done to all involved;)
