Speed Events
Speed events promoted by VHRR include circuit races, sprints and hillclimbs.  There are two main circuit events:
 - the Phillip Island International Challenge held in
early March each year (1 week prior to the
    Australian F1 GP)
 - the Sandown Trans Tasman Challenge run in
    November each year.

The Phillip Island meeting is a major event and typically attracts competitors from New Zealand, England, Europe Asia and the USA.

The Sandown meeting re-lives the days when the Trans Tasman Championship was the highlight of the Australasian motorsport calendar.  The crown for the top individual and top country is fought out by  formula cars from Australia and New Zealand.

Sprints and hillclimbs are also promoted by the club at various locations.  See the calendar for details.

Social Events
Bi-monthly meetings are held at the club rooms in the  evening and normally have a guest speaker presenting and discussing some aspect of motorsport - past or present.

Visits to places of interest for motorsport enthusiasts are also organised.

For those who can make a lunchtime meeting, a group meets at the clubrooms on Wednesdays (except during Christmas holidays) starting at around 12 noon.  Bring along your lunch and enjoy some good company.  There is a $2 charge to cover the cost of power.

Combined Events
When speed events are held at locations outside Melbourne these usually serve as a combination of speed and social event.  Many members take the opportunity to make the trip a weekend away.

Events run by other clubs

VHRR members can also enter events designated "Multi-Club" that are run by other clubs.
